Field Trip Report Lake County October 5, 2013 8:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Weather: Sunny 70-80 F Protocol: Traveling 5.0 mile(s) Leader: Lukas Padegimas 63 Species 13 Observers On this warm October day, thirteen of us spent a few hours at Mentor Headlands State Park where we saw 12 species of Warblers including an Orange-crowned Warbler. We also saw an out-of-place Eastern Meadowlark. One notably missing species was the Monarch butterfly. While plenty are usually seen at Mentor Headlands at this time of the year, not a single butterfly was spotted during this walk. Later, our group headed down to Mentor Marsh where we had nice looks at a Nelson’s Sparrow – another target bird. Overall, we saw 63 species.
