Orphaned or Injured Wildlife?
What to do if you find a baby bird
In many cases “orphaned” baby birds are kidnapped when they should be left alone, not taken to a rehabber.

CLEVELAND CIRCLE
CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT

The Kirtland Bird Club has a long tradition of supporting the Cleveland Christmas Bird Count.

The Circle in which counting takes place is shown at right.  The interactive map shows a number of Counting Circles.  The Cleveland Christmas Bird Count is the circle showing Euclid, East Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, Beachwood, and Eastlake.

Anyone can participate in the count, whether you are counting birds at your backyard feeders or tromping through woods and fields.

Contact KBC member Andy Jones, ajones@cmnh.org, coordinator and compiler, to participate.

           BIRD IDENTIFICATION NIGHT
         hosted by
Kirtland Bird Club
Saturday, May 16th from 7-8PM
Virtual meeting place, details to be sent after emailing us (see below)

If you see a bird in Northeast Ohio and can describe it or get a photo, the Kirtland Bird Club of Cleveland will help you figure out what it is!                            Birders of all levels are welcome!

Email us at info@kirtlandbirdclub.org with your name and city and we’ll get back to with details about our virtual meetup.
Get as many details as you can (those are what we call the "field marks" of the bird)!
  • What color was it overall?  How about the colors on the head, chest, and belly?
  • How big was it – the size of a robin?  the size of a crow? the size of a sparrow?
  • Was there anything special you noticed?  Stripes on the head?  White outer tail feathers as it flew away?  Flicking its tail up & down?
  • Where did you see it?  On the ground, in a tree, at a bird feeder?  The more details the better!
In the mean time check out our New Birder section (found under "MORE" above)
