(Pocahontas County)
West Virginia. |

Heading north the next day we
stopped in
Durbin and had a BBQ chicken lunch at the
100th Birthday celebration
of the first steam engine.

We stopped at Spruce Knob with
an
elevation of 4,861 feet it is the
highest peak in West Virginia. |

In spots of sun light
throughout the Knob grew new Spruce Trees. |

The Gaudineer Scenic Area
timber stand consists of
virgin and second growth red spruce, yellow birch, beech,
red maple, sugar maple and other hardwood species. |
Seneca Rocks rise
900 feet above the North Fork River containing formations of
the white/gray Tuscarora quartzite.

And so we head home on Monday,
after a wonderful birding trip.
