Our first stop was Medusa
Marsh where
we counted many Pied-billed Grebes. |
We watched the sun setting
on Kelleys Island before dinner. |
Dinner at The Village Pump. |
And on Saturday morning we
watched the sunrise on the east shoreline. |
Got a Great Black-backed
Gull... |
... as we scoped the east
side. |
No shore birds but a few
Great Blue Herons and Bonaparte's Gulls. |
Birding can be tough at
times! |
But we managed through the
morning. |
At the Kelleys Island State
Park we had many American Robins and Cedar Waxwings. |
The North Canyon had some
interesting rock coloration along with the Lichen. |
We found a few warblers in
the remains of this old quarry. |
Then to the sandy beach. |
No loon, I'm afraid but a
kayaker! |
We next stopped at the
Glacial Grooves. |
And then on to east quarry
in hoped of finding a Green Heron. |
A few Crows and a Heron
here. |
The North Pond Nature
Preserve provided us with a Chickadee or two. |
Then the Rock Elm Tree was
loaded with warblers while hosting many web worms. |
A tired me at dinner at the
Pre Pub. |
Sunrise again on Sunday on
the East side of the island. |
And then we went on to
Scheele Preserve. |
An Eastern Phoebe and some
Cedar Waxwings were seen and heard. |
A few Hackberry Butterflies
on the Hackberry trees and... |
... Praying Mantis. |
Bill asks "What do you mean
I shouldn't have ice cream before breakfast?" |
We decided to make a dash
for the ferry but one care had to check out a suspect
Merganser. |
We did all make the same
ferry over to Marblehead. |
We enjoyed our lunch at the
Marblehead Lighthouse. |
Pickerel Creek was our last
stop of the trip on Sunday. |
Enjoyed a Bald Eagle and
many Lesser Yellowlegs here. |
And then there was Tofts! |
