KBC Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Committee Chairs:
Andy Lihani & Bob Finkelstein

The Kirtland Bird Club Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to assist individuals, who are interested in the study of natural science including birds and conservation, to attend classes, conferences, camps and programs. This effort supports the Club’s purpose which is the study of birds.

KBC Scholarship Guidelines

1.  Membership in the Kirtland Bird Club (KBC) is not a requirement to be eligible to apply. If you are not a member of the KBC, you should be member of and active in another organization such as the Ohio Ornithological Society, the CMNH Future Scientists Program, the Black Swamp Bird Observatory, the Audubon Society, the Ohio Young Birders Club, or participate in a school program such as The Science Olympiad.

2.  A scholarship application form is available here or by calling a Chair of this committee (440-250-0896) or (216-283-8734), and the form must be filled out completely. If you are less than eighteen years old, a parent or guardian must sign the application. A letter providing the reason for the request and a letter of recommendation from an adult who has knowledge of your interests and activities must accompany the application.

3.  You should have an interest in the study of birds or some other facet of natural history, including Conservation.  Participation in the organizations or programs noted in Guideline 1 will be considered evidence of such interest.

4.  The last official meeting of KBC’s fiscal year is the first Wednesday in June.  Applications for financial support must be submitted in person or by mail by March 1st of the year for which support is requested. Scholarships will be awarded at the June meeting.

5.  A recipient of an award from the Scholarship Fund shall prepare a brief description of the activity for which the award was given for publication in the KBC Newsletter. This description should be submitted within two months following the activity.

Send your application, letter of request, and letter of recommendation to:

Kirtland Bird Club
