Kirtland Bird Club

Non-discrimination Policy

The Kirtland Bird Club is committed to treating every mem-ber with respect.  We prohibit all forms of discrimination that violate law or policy in any action affecting members and those benefiting from our public services or sponsored programs.  Toward this end, we shall:

Give all people fair and equal treatment in decisions regarding membership and participation in KBC programs.

Ensure that our officers are committed to and responsible for fair and equal treatment.

Be a model organization that ensures no unlawful discrimi-nation in recruitment, enrollment, election, appointment, and participation.

Prevent sexual harassment.  Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that is a condition of recruitment or selection as members, election or appointment as officers or committee members, or participation in programs.  Officers must take prompt and decision action to prevent and eliminate sexual harassment.  Each of us must hold accountable anyone who commits sexual harassment and take immediate correction action.

Promote diversity in our organization.  A diverse membership is the key to the organization’s success.  We must draw on the strength of our differences and similarities to create a positive environment through consistent leadership so that all members can enjoy the benefits of membership and contribute to the organization.  Our membership must reflect America and promote an environment that places high value on individual dignity, respect, and personal growth.  Diversity in the organization contributes to the creative thinking and innovation so critical to excellence.
