“El Chocó, Colombia: Struggle for Cultural and
Environmental Survival,” at Mandel School of Applied
Social Sciences (MSASS),
at the corner of Ford and Bellflower on the CWRU Campus.
This is a series of 28 prints of images from my ongoing
project about the region of El Chocó, and the enormous
pressures the people there face. The exhibit is currently up
in the first floor corridors. It will be there until
December 9, 2005.
On November 1, 2005 at 12:30
p.m. Steve will be giving an illustrated talk about Chocó in
Room 320 of Mandel
School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS).
“Latin American Portraits,” in the University
Hospitals Gallery. This gallery is to the right of the
reception desk if you enter through the main entrance. This
show is an opportunity for Steve to exhibit some of the
portraits he has made of people from four Latin American
countries (Nicaragua, El Salvador, Cuba and Colombia) over a
period of nearly 25 years.
Portraits have always been an important part of his
documentary work, and this is a chance to look at a big
group of portraits.
This exhibit will be up for October and November. There will
be a reception in the gallery area sometime in early
November. Details will be announced as soon as we have them
And watch for a show of images drawn from Steve's “Working
Ohio” project in the Campbell gallery at the Levin School at
Cleveland State University in January—more details later.
