I bear glad
tidings of great joy! Okay, so she decided to
emerge sometime early this morning and not
Tuesday like I thought. Before I went to bed
last night, she was still on the stick with only
her head sticking out. I did not notice any
color changes in her except maybe some color
where the lateral thoracic stripes would be.
When I checked the aquarium this morning, she
was fully emerged and floating in the water!
I'm thinking, "arrrrgh, after all this she has
to go and drown." When I plucked her out,
however, she latched on to my finger. She was
wet, but unharmed. I must have gotten to her in
the nick of time. After all the shock, I then
see a note from my brother that said simply,
"dragonfly" with an arrow pointing to the
aquarium. He noticed that she was hanging from
the top of the aquarium at 6:50 am when he left
for work. When I checked at 7:25 am, she was in
the water. Her wings were fairly stiff, though,
which was a good thing since I had to handle
her. She wanted to fly almost right away, so I
emptied the aquarium and put her back in it on
the stick and drove to work. After many
pictures and much celebration, I let her go.
